The cases go back so far that some (very few) are in Norman french (always a bit of fun to cite one of these). They have an invaluable cross referencing system at the front of each report.
The reports themselves are just so very useful and cases from the reports come up very regularly in decided cases. If you want to be thought of as having researched a topic thoroughly, what better was than to refer to a case in these English Reports.
This set was rebound by Les Stallard in Worcester for the vendor in about 2005. The result is that the books fall open beautifully to use. A wonderful set.
They are bound in blue buckram with colour flashes closely following the colours drawn from a set still in its original coloured cloth bindings.
The print is wonderfully crisp and the paper shows no sign of acid decay. There are book plates at the front of each volume.
As to cons: (i) The volume of Modern is a reprint bound to match the rest (I have never looked up a case in Modern so have not been affected!) (ii) The set lacks to two index volumes – which could be acquired in reprint form.
The set comes complete with the original booklet of contents and display sheet (all very well used) in a reddish buckram.
I see that Butterworths are selling sets at a little north of £38k which is, I assume, the reprint. The reprint volumes have nothing like the crispness of an original set which as a user I far far prefer. The books used for the internet seem to use the same reprints.
In the circumstances £32,000 seems a fair price.
Books presently boxed and located in Gloucestershire.
